Detroit police investigate possible murder-suicide in home

Detroit police are investigating a potential murder-suicide involving a 50-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy found dead in a home on Stoepel Street. The discovery was made after neighbors reported a foul odor emanating from the residence for approximately one week.

Upon entering the home, investigators found the two victims had died from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. During a follow-up search of the property on Friday, police discovered the skeletal remains of the woman's husband in the basement. Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison stated that the husband had not been seen or heard from in several years.

Neighbors reported that the woman rarely left the home, except for occasional food deliveries, and noted that the situation has deeply shocked the local community.
