Detroit Red Wings continue search for permanent general manager

The Detroit Red Wings continue their search for a permanent general manager following Steve Yzerman’s transition from the role to senior advisor to CEO Chris Ilitch. Assistant General Manager Shawn Horcoff is currently managing day-to-day operations on an interim basis, though he is reportedly restricted from making trades.

To assist in the recruitment process, the organization has engaged the external search firm TurnkeyZRG. While several in-house candidates are being considered, external names such as Florida Panthers Assistant GM Brett Peterson and San Jose Sharks Assistant GM Jeff Kealty have been linked to the position.

The search remains ongoing as the team prepares for training camp, which is scheduled to open on September 17, ahead of their season opener against the New York Rangers on October 2.
