Detroit Red Wings face uncertainty amid Larkin trade request and Yzerman exit

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider has addressed the significant organizational changes facing the franchise, including the departure of general manager Steve Yzerman and a trade request from team captain Dylan Larkin.

Speaking during the NHL’s European Player Media Tour, Seider expressed surprise regarding Yzerman’s exit, noting that he was “stumped” by the decision but trusts the team ownership to manage the transition. Seider, who was Yzerman’s first draft selection in 2019, highlighted the impact of the roster instability.

Regarding Dylan Larkin, the captain has requested a trade after a decade without playoff appearances. While Larkin has reportedly expressed interest in specific teams such as the Florida Panthers, Vegas Golden Knights, Minnesota Wild, and Dallas Stars, his situation remains unresolved due to the current lack of a general manager in Detroit. Some analysts have suggested the Montreal Canadiens as a potential destination that would fit the team's needs, though it remains uncertain if Larkin would accept a move to a divisional rival.
