Detroit Red Wings identify candidates for new general manager

Internal options reportedly include assistant general managers Shawn Horcoff and Kris Draper, both of whom offer organizational continuity. Externally, the search has expanded beyond traditional hockey executives to include individuals from other sports organizations.

One notable external candidate is Jeff Greenberg, who currently works for the Detroit Tigers. Greenberg has a history of contributing to the Tigers’ turnaround from a struggling team to a playoff contender, and he previously spent time with the Chicago Blackhawks. The organization aims to secure a permanent appointment, ideally before training camp begins, to ensure the new leader can influence the team’s direction.
