Regarding contract negotiations, Horcoff noted that the team will begin working on a deal for defenseman Simon Edvinsson as soon as possible, describing Edvinsson as a “fantastic player” and a “bright spot” in the organization.

Reports indicate that previous management, including Steve Yzerman, had warned ownership about the long-term implications of potential trades involving Larkin. Horcoff has emphasized a day-to-day approach to his new responsibilities, stating he intends to focus on one task at a time to avoid burnout while maintaining the team's long-term vision.
