Detroit Red Wings prepare for preseason and new broadcast era

The Detroit Red Wings are preparing for a truncated four-game NHL preseason schedule. Coach Todd McLellan noted that the shortened timeline requires the coaching staff to focus on specific tactical areas rather than a complete overhaul of the team's play. The exhibition slate includes matchups against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo, ahead of the regular season home opener on October 2.

In related organizational news, the Red Wings have announced broadcast details for their inaugural season on Detroit SportsNet (DSN). Replacing FanDuel Sports Network Detroit, DSN will feature 67 regular-season games during the 2026-27 season. The broadcast team will be led by Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond, who are entering their 30th season together. Coverage will be available via various cable providers and through a dedicated streaming option in the MLB App.
