Adding to the complexity is the unresolved trade request from team captain Dylan Larkin. Despite his desire to be traded, Larkin is expected to report to training camp to avoid salary risks. Trade discussions have reportedly stalled as the team lacks a permanent GM authorized to finalize deals, and potential destinations like the Minnesota Wild have not met Detroit’s asking price.

On the roster front, the Red Wings acquired 23-year-old forward Sutter Muzzatti from the Nashville Predators in exchange for future considerations, signing him to a two-year entry-level contract. Meanwhile, defenseman Moritz Seider expressed support for the NHL’s expansion into Germany, noting the league's upcoming Global Series events in Cologne and Munich.
