Detroit Tigers beat Angels 7-0, then lose 3-2; Báez slated for rehab
On Saturday night in Anaheim, Detroit starter Tarik Skubal threw seven shutout innings while allowing just five hits. Spencer Torkelson hit two home runs and drove in four runs, and the Tigers defeated the Los Angeles Angels 7–0. Colt Keith went 4‑for‑4 and Kevin McGonigle added a double and two runs.
The next day the Angels rallied. Rookie Ryan Johnson worked five solid innings, giving up one run, and Jorge Soler and Zach Neto supplied the winning RBIs as Los Angeles topped Detroit 3–2, ending a four‑game losing streak. Casey Mize left early for Detroit after a comebacker struck his left hand.
Separately, manager A.J. Hinch announced that shortstop Javier Báez will begin a Low‑A rehab assignment with Lakeland, the first step toward returning from a 60‑day injured‑list stint. The club also noted that Gleyber Torres has been reinstated from the IL and will be in the lineup for the upcoming series against the Chicago Cubs.
