Deurne and Leiderdorp take steps to curb truck traffic and reduce noise
In Deurne, the local VVD party has asked the mayor and municipal executive to consider banning through‑traffic trucks from the residential Heiakker neighbourhood. The party cites frequent dangerous situations caused by large vehicles navigating narrow streets, often routed there by navigation systems, and urges that only destination traffic be allowed.
In the nearby town of Leiderdorp, the municipal council has approved adjustments to the traffic lights on Engelendaal to lessen evening and night‑time noise from vehicles. Councilor Freddy Blommers said the change aims to address dozens of resident complaints, while the council has ruled out lowering the speed limit or installing sound‑based speed cameras at this stage.
