Deutsche Bahn construction disrupts regional and long‑distance trains across Germany

Deutsche Bahn is carrying out construction work on several railway sections, leading to service disruptions and replacement bus operations.

In the Frankfurt‑Höchst area, new switches are being installed. From 26 June 21:00 UTC to 29 June 04:00 UTC, the S1, S2 and RB 22 lines are affected, with the S1 skipping Höchst‑Farbwerke, the S2 missing its stop between Niedernhausen and Frankfurt‑Höchst, and RB 22 not running between Frankfurt Hbf and Lorsbach. Additional buses run between Frankfurt Hbf and Niedernhausen. A second weekend of restrictions runs from 3 July 21:00 UTC to 11 July 05:00 UTC, affecting the same lines and others such as RB 12 and RB 22.

On the Munich‑Nuremberg corridor, evening works from 22 June to 25 June cause restrictions on RE 1 and RB 16. Deutsche Bahn will run replacement buses between Ingolstadt Nord and Treuchtlingen; bicycles cannot be taken on these buses.

Between Leipzig and Beucha, night work on 21–22 June forces the RB 110 service to be replaced by buses, with limited allowance for bicycles and e‑scooters.

On the left‑bank Rhine route between Cologne and Mainz, ongoing track and overhead‑line upgrades continue until 10 July. Long‑distance trains are rerouted, with stops at Cologne Hbf, Bonn Hbf, Remagen and Andernach omitted, while additional stops at Cologne Messe/Deutz and Bonn‑Beuel are used. Regional RE 2 services between Koblenz and Mainz are partially replaced by buses, and other sections see similar bus substitutions. Passengers are urged to check timetables before travel.
