Deutsche Bahn construction projects disrupt travel in Germany

Deutsche Bahn (DB) and its subsidiary DB InfraGO AG will carry out modernization work on the Ammerseebahn line from 1 August 2024 to 14 December 2024. The upgrades require a full closure of the Geltendorf – Weilheim section, with all trains replaced by special‑service bus (SEV) routes. The SEV timetable is being finalized, and passengers can download special schedules from the BRB website. The bus service will be split into two lines (Weilheim‑Dießen and Geltendorf‑Dießen) to maintain connections to Munich, Augsburg and other destinations, with additional buses for school traffic after the summer holidays.

In a separate programme, DB will perform track renewal works on the Taunus‑Eisenbahn line at Wiesbaden Ost station from 5 August to 10 August 2026, as part of the federal “Germany needs a strong rail” initiative. The works may cause increased noise and dust, and involve machinery such as track renewal trains, generators, excavators and rail cranes. DB apologises for any inconvenience and urges local residents to contact the city’s press office with questions.
