Deutsche Bahn curtails S‑Bahn and regional services in Berlin and Rhineland‑Palatinate

Deutsche Bahn announced extensive S‑Bahn work in Berlin’s Schöneweide district. From the evening of 12 June until the early morning of 6 July, services on lines S3, S46, S47, S75, S8, S85 and S9 will be partially or completely suspended between Altglienicke, Grünau, Spindlersfeld, Schöneweide and Baumschulenweg, with additional gaps between Treptower Park and Warschauer Straße. A €130 million electronic signalling centre is being built, and a barrier‑free bus replacement network (including temporary S46, S47, S9X and S9A routes) has been arranged. The railway advises airport passengers to use regional trains (FEX, RE20, RB24, RB32) and notes special S2 service for the ILA exhibition.

In the Rhineland‑Palatinate, Deutsche Bahn will also limit regional traffic between Neustadt an der Weinstraße and Kaiserslautern on weekends through 5 July while maintenance works continue. Trains on the RE1 line are cancelled from Friday night (22:30) to Sunday close, with buses substituting the service. Similar disruptions affect parts of the Homburg‑Mannheim corridor. Replacement buses cannot carry bicycles and may not stop directly at all stations; passengers are urged to check the DB Navigator app for up‑to‑date information.
