Deutsche Bahn pilots 60% fare cut for Germany-ticket commuters on Rhine ICE/IC route

Deutsche Bahn is running a pilot project that gives holders of the Deutschlandticket a 60% discount on multi‑ride tickets for ICE and IC trains between Mainz, Koblenz and Bonn on the left‑bank Rhine line. The offer, valid from 7 July to 31 December 2026, applies to 10‑ or 20‑trip tickets in first or second class. Prices drop from €232.10 to €92.84 for a 20‑trip Mainz‑Koblenz round‑trip, and from €209.25 to €83.70 for Bonn‑Koblenz. Passengers must use all rides within a month and commit to the same line, but they may choose any train on that route. The pilot, which also includes selected routes in Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern, is intended to gather data for future commuter‑fare products. It coincides with renovation work on the opposite right‑bank line between Wiesbaden and Troisdorf, which is closed for the same period.
