Evelyn Palla flags low punctuality and profit at Deutsche Bahn FAST-MOVING

Deutsche Bahn reported that only 58.7 % of its long‑distance trains were on time in the first half of 2026, falling short of the 60 % target set by CEO Evelyn Palla. The company posted a profit of €147 million for the same period, driven largely by increased state subsidies for infrastructure maintenance. Passenger numbers reached a record 960 million, but Palla criticised the former management culture as “organized irresponsibility” and said a lack of performance commitment in the leadership was a key cause of the punctuality shortfall. She has begun a restructuring that trims central functions and pushes responsibility to regional units, while warning that improving reliability will take time.
