Deutsche Bahn reports 54.2 percent punctuality for August long-distance trains

Deutsche Bahn reported that long-distance train punctuality in August stood at 54.2 percent, based on a threshold of delays under six minutes. While this is a slight improvement from the 52.6 percent recorded in the previous two months, it remains significantly below the company’s annual target of at least 60 percent.

The company attributed the delays to weather-related issues, specifically high temperatures causing equipment malfunctions and speed restrictions, as well as extensive construction projects, including corridor renovations between Troisdorf and Wiesbaden and work on the Berlin Stadtbahn.

Passenger punctuality, which accounts for cancellations and connections with a delay threshold of up to 14 minutes and 59 seconds, was recorded at 56.6 percent. Meanwhile, a new app called Bahnsparer has launched, utilizing Deutsche Bahn’s timetable API to provide reliability ratings for individual connections, helping travelers identify more dependable routes.
