Deutsche Bahn restores service after nationwide digital radio outage

A failure in the digital radio (Funk) network halted train operations across Germany on Tuesday evening, leaving tens of thousands of passengers stranded. Deutsche Bahn confirmed the outage and said service began to resume by early morning, with operations largely back on track around 07:00.

Passengers reported a lack of timely information on the DB Navigator app and website, leading to confusion and frustration. The passenger association Pro‑Bahn noted that updates were entered manually and often delayed. Deutsche Bahn provided water and offered hotel or taxi vouchers, though some hotels were fully booked, causing many travellers to wait on platforms or inside trains.

The incident highlighted shortcomings in communication during transport disruptions, but service was restored without reported injuries.
