Deutsche Bahn resumes regional rail services in northern Bavaria

Deutsche Bahn is resuming rail services on several regional lines in northern Bavaria following extensive construction and heat-related repairs.

On the RB81 line between Neustadt an der Aisch and Steinach, train service is scheduled to restart on September 15, coinciding with the start of the school year. The line had been closed since August 23 due to heat damage to the tracks and infrastructure caused by record temperatures. Repairs were complicated by the need for specific temperature conditions for welding and the availability of specialized machinery.

Additionally, the S-Bahn service between Nuremberg and Roth is expected to return to regular schedules on September 15 following summer construction work, including platform renewals in Schwabach. During the closure period, commuters faced significant disruptions, including unreliable replacement bus services and overcrowded regional trains. Deutsche Bahn acknowledged that recent service quality did not meet their reliability standards.
