Deutsche Bahn to restore direct Berlin-Paris ICE service in December

Deutsche Bahn plans to resume direct ICE train connections between Berlin and Paris by mid-December, following a disruption that has lasted since July. The suspension of the nonstop service was caused by technical difficulties involving the European Train Control System (ETCS) during equipment installation by Alstom.

During the interruption, passengers traveling between the two capitals were required to transfer in Frankfurt or Mannheim. The direct route, which takes approximately eight hours, has been highly popular since its introduction in December 2024.

Deutsche Bahn stated that a specific date for the resumption can only be confirmed once testing is complete, but the service is expected to return with the timetable change around December 13. Some nonstop routes are already available for booking starting from that date.
