Deutsche Bahn unveils 2027 timetable with expanded international links

Deutsche Bahn has unveiled its 2027 timetable, which focuses on expanding international connections and introducing new high-speed services, while simultaneously managing significant infrastructure challenges.

Key improvements include increased direct links to major European destinations. Travelers from Amsterdam will see direct ICE services to Munich increase from one to six daily during the summer of 2027. Cooperation with SNCF will enhance connections between Paris and cities like Stuttgart and Munich. New direct services to Italy via Frecciarossa trains are planned from Munich and Augsburg to Milan and Rome, and connections to Switzerland will be strengthened from cities like Erfurt and Halle.

To support passengers, Deutsche Bahn is introducing new pricing options, including a permanent family ticket and discounted monthly passes for commuters. New 'Sprinter' services will also offer faster travel between major metropolitan hubs.

However, extensive construction work will impact many routes. In northern Germany, several corridor renovations have been postponed until after 2031, affecting routes such as Bremen–Hamburg. Travelers should expect delays, diversions, and reduced service on various lines throughout 2027 due to ongoing maintenance and large-scale rail projects.
