Deutsche Bank to launch institutional crypto custody in Germany
Deutsche Bank expects to launch institutional cryptocurrency custody services in Germany within weeks. The service is designed for eligible institutions and companies rather than retail customers, providing a bank-managed method for holding selected digital assets and approving transfers.
The initial scope includes Bitcoin, Ether, and selected stablecoins or e-money tokens such as USDC, EURC, and EURAU. The platform will manage wallets and private keys on behalf of clients, utilizing hardware-based key protection and multi-signature transaction approvals to ensure security.
Following the German launch, the bank aims to expand into Asian financial centers, including Hong Kong and Singapore, by 2027. Future roadmap expansions include stablecoin on/off-ramp services, tokenized deposits, and the issuance of blockchain-based securities.
