Deutsche Bank to launch institutional crypto custody services

Deutsche Bank is preparing to launch institutional crypto custody services in Germany within weeks, with plans to expand into the Asian market by 2027. The bank recently received authorization from Germany’s financial regulator, BaFin, under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework.

The initial service rollout is expected to support Bitcoin, Ethereum, and stablecoins including USDC, EURC, and the euro-pegged EURAU. The offering is designed for corporate clients, providing the necessary wallet technology and private key infrastructure so institutions do not have to manage these technical requirements themselves.

Beyond custody, the bank intends to offer services such as stablecoin conversions, tokenized deposits, and assistance with the issuance of digital bonds or blockchain-based securities. This digital asset strategy is part of a broader goal to achieve an approximately 8% compound annual growth rate in corporate banking revenue between 2025 and 2028. The bank has previously collaborated with Bitpanda and Taurus on its crypto custody infrastructure.
