Deutsche Glasfaser cancels fiber optic expansion in Mindelheim

Deutsche Glasfaser has decided not to proceed with its fiber optic expansion project in Mindelheim, despite having secured numerous contracts from local residents. In May 2025, more than 33 percent of households in Mindelheim expressed interest in the service, and the company had previously indicated a desire to realize the project due to strong community cooperation.

Following a recent economic feasibility study, the company determined that the costs for network expansion significantly exceed its planned budget. Consequently, Deutsche Glasfaser has informed contract holders that the project will not move forward and that existing contracts are now terminated without the need for customers to provide formal cancellation. It remains uncertain whether Telekom will undertake the expansion in the area.
