Deutsche Rentenversicherung alerts retirees to email and web scams

The Deutsche Rentenversicherung warned that phishing emails impersonating the agency are being sent to pensioners, many of them generated with artificial‑intelligence tools. The messages claim the recipient has a pending pension credit or a new electronic health card and ask for personal data or a verification payment. Recipients are urged not to click links, to ignore any requests for personal information and to delete the messages.

At the same time, consumer groups reported that third‑party websites are copying the DRV’s look and charging fees for pension‑information services that are free on the official site. These sites appear high in search results, often as sponsored links, and may also display the DRV logo. Users are advised to use only the official DRV portal for pension inquiries and to beware of paid services that promise documents such as insurance‑number confirmations or pension‑status certificates.

Both warnings aim to protect retirees from fraud that could lead to loss of personal data or money.
