Deutsche Telekom targets €2.5 billion in AI-driven savings by 2030

Deutsche Telekom has announced an extensive artificial intelligence offensive aimed at driving significant cost savings and new revenue streams. The company targets a reduction in annual indirect costs of approximately 2.5 billion euros by 2030 compared to 2023 levels. This represents an increased ambition from its previous 2027 target of 1.1 billion euros in gross savings.

Beyond cost reduction, the group expects AI-related revenue from business customers outside the United States to grow from roughly 250 million euros this year to 800 million euros by 2030. CEO Tim Höttges noted that AI is fundamentally changing the company, impacting network operations, customer service, software development, and administrative processes.

In the United States, AI agents already manage 40 percent of customer interactions, contributing to a 55 percent drop in call volumes. The company's 'Frag Magenta' chatbot handled 2.6 million calls in the first half of 2026. Additionally, the company is collaborating with Nvidia on the Industrial AI Cloud in Munich to serve European industrial needs. To support this transition, the company aims to increase its AI-literate workforce to 100 percent.
