Deutsches Damast- und Frottiermuseum displays historical textiles
The Deutsches Damast- und Frottiermuseum features various historical textile artifacts, including specialized jacquard-woven cotton towels from different eras.
One specimen is a 1930s towel produced by Ernst Julius Eichler in Großschönau. It features a geometric pattern with turquoise, brown, and orange colors, including the text ‘Gruß aus Bad Elster’ woven into the design.
Another item is a 1975 towel manufactured by VEB Frottex. This piece depicts a stylized beach scene with a man playing a guitar and a woman in a bikini, set against a background of red, yellow, and green stripes.
