Deva Cassel to star in new Phantom of the Opera film

Director Alexandre Castagnetti is set to release a contemporary reimagining of Gaston Leroux’s ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ on October 28, 2026. This new adaptation shifts the focus from singing to dance, centering the narrative on Anastasia (played by Deva Cassel), a dancer who joins the Paris Opera.

In this version, Anastasia joins a production of the ballet ‘Orpheus’ led by choreographer James Figueras (played by Romain Duris). The plot follows a mysterious relationship between Anastasia and a hidden pianist in the opera house’s basement, exploring themes of authority, power dynamics, and the brutal demands of the artistic world.

Deva Cassel, the daughter of actors Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel, stars alongside Romain Duris. Cassel, a polyglot and former model who began walking for Dolce & Gabbana at age 14, takes on the lead role in this romantic and dramatic fantasy.
