Deva officials and Austrian Ambassador discuss economic cooperation

The Mayor of Deva, Lucian Ioan Rus, met with the Austrian Ambassador to Romania, Ulla Krauss-Nussbaumer, to discuss strengthening cooperation between the municipality and Austrian communities. The discussions focused on investment opportunities, economic development, culture, and tourism.

Economic ties are already established; in 2025, Austrian-capital companies in Deva reported a turnover of 9.83 million euros and provided 110 jobs. Across Hunedoara County, 38 Austrian-owned companies recorded a total turnover of 21.45 million euros and employed 306 people.

A key topic was the development of dual education, using the Austrian model as a benchmark. The Ambassador expressed openness to supporting local high schools in developing professional training aligned with labor market needs. Following the meeting at City Hall, the Ambassador visited the Decebal National College and the Deva Fortress.
