Ertuğrul Kaya resigns from DEVA Party, dissolving Yeni Yol Group

Ertuğrul Kaya, the DEVA Party Member of Parliament for Gaziantep, has resigned from all party duties and membership. Kaya cited long-standing disagreements with the party leadership as the reason for his departure, noting that he had previously informed DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan of his decision during a meeting in September.

Kaya’s resignation has significant implications for the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). The Yeni Yol Group, a parliamentary group formed by members of the DEVA, Saadet, and Gelecek parties, has seen its membership drop from 20 to 19. Under TBMM regulations, a minimum of 20 deputies is required to maintain official group status, meaning the Yeni Yol Group has lost its parliamentary group standing.

While Kaya has not officially announced which party he will join, political speculation suggests he may move to the AK Party. Kaya stated he would consult with his constituents in Gaziantep regarding his future political direction.
