Devdutt Padikkal appointed India A captain for Australia A series

Devdutt Padikkal has been appointed captain of the India A cricket team for two upcoming Multi-Day matches against Australia A. The first match is scheduled for September 22 to 25 in Puducherry, followed by a second match from September 29 to October 2.

Padikkal, 26, takes on this leadership role following his tenure as Karnataka's Ranji Trophy captain and a successful Test series against Sri Lanka, where he was named player of the series after scoring 328 runs. Sai Sudarshan will serve as vice-captain for the series.

Reflecting on his appointment, Padikkal stated, “I think leadership is something that I really enjoy doing... I'm really looking forward to carrying that experience to the India A set-up as well.” He noted that captaincy is an “added responsibility” focused on helping the team win.
