Devdutt Padikkal emerges as key player for India in Sri Lanka Test series

Devdutt Padikkal has emerged as a significant find for the Indian Test team following a dominant performance in the recent series against Sri Lanka. Padikkal was named Player of the Series after scoring 328 runs across three innings at an average of 109.33, which included two centuries and a high score of 167.

His ability to handle spin through precise footwork and back-foot play has positioned him as a primary candidate for the number three batting spot. Former captain Ajinkya Rahane noted that Padikkal’s intent and authority against bowlers have “temporarily sealed” the position. Captain Shubman Gill also suggested that continued form would secure the slot for the young batter.
