Devdutt Padikkal saves KL Rahul with timely DRS review in Galle Test

During the fourth day of the opening Test between India and Sri Lanka at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, Devdutt Padikkal’s intervention saved KL Rahul from a dismissal.

Sri Lankan spinner Prabath Jayasuriya delivered a ball that struck Rahul’s pad, leading the on-field umpire to rule him out LBW. Rahul appeared to accept the decision and began walking toward the pavilion. However, Padikkal urged Rahul to use the Decision Review System (DRS) before the timer expired.

Ball-tracking technology confirmed that the delivery would have passed over the top of the stumps, resulting in the on-field decision being overturned. Following the reprieve, Rahul embraced Padikkal on the pitch to thank him for the timely advice. The successful review helped India extend its lead to 298 runs at lunch.
