The Deveboynu Peninsula, located on the shores of Lake Van between the Gevaş district of Van and the Tatvan district of Bitlis, has been officially declared Turkey’s 54th national park. The decision, published in the Official Gazette, covers an area of 12,533 hectares.

This new status aims to protect the region’s unique biodiversity, turquoise bays, and historical sites, such as the Aziz Thomas Church. Experts, including Professor Vahap Yönten from Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, emphasized that the legal protection will ensure the preservation of flora, water resources, and historical remains for future generations.

Local business leaders, including Memet Aslan, Chairman of the Van Organized Industrial Zone, have welcomed the decision.
