Developer completes Weathervane Raspberry Pi project

A developer has completed a capstone project titled ‘Weathervane’ during their time at Recurse Center. The project consists of an e-paper display mounted on a Raspberry Pi Zero W designed to provide at-a-glance weather updates.

The technical implementation involved using a Waveshare 3.7 inch e-Paper HAT, which utilizes a SPI interface via the Raspberry Pi’s GPIO ports. The project allowed the developer to explore hardware interfacing, file format parsing, and protocol parsing.

Separately, the author announced that they will no longer actively update their personal blog. This decision is attributed to increased professional and personal responsibilities, declining ad revenue, and changing web advertising trends.
