Developer implements Python and Fabric to bypass deployment restrictions

A developer has successfully transitioned a deployment shadow pipeline from Ansible to a custom Python and Fabric implementation. The shift follows a failed attempt to use Ansible playbooks for pre-production deployments due to strict sudo restrictions and user permission differences between development and production environments.

In the development environment, sudo access is unrestricted, whereas pre-production and production environments limit sudo to specific commands and require different user IDs for separate tasks. To overcome these bureaucratic and technical hurdles, the developer utilized approximately 250 lines of AI-assisted code to create a more granular control model. A successful service restart in pre-production has been completed using this new method, with plans to test a full pre-production deployment shortly.
