Development Bank of Southern Africa reports R7.8 billion profit

The Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) reported a 47% increase in net profit to R7.8 billion for the financial year ending 31 March 2026. As part of its infrastructure and connectivity mandate, the institution supported the deployment of 47,545km of fibre during the year.

The bank’s total development loan commitment portfolio rose to N$26.279 billion, up from N$21.087 billion in the previous year. In Namibia, the DBSA maintained development loan commitments of N$2.159 billion, which remained unchanged from the prior year. The bank’s total commitments across the rest of Africa increased to N$9.172 billion.

DBSA’s funding activities cover various sectors, including communication, transport, electricity, water, and social infrastructure. The institution identified digitalisation as a core driver for inclusive economic growth and a means to help emerging economies participate in global markets.
