Devendra Fadnavis criticizes UPA over NCERT history curriculum

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has criticized the previous UPA government regarding the historical content in NCERT textbooks. Speaking at a BJP Maharashtra State Executive meeting in Pune, Fadnavis alleged that during the UPA era, textbooks devoted 13 pages to the Mughals while reducing the history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to a single paragraph. He noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the curriculum has been updated to include 17 pages on Shivaji Maharaj.

Fadnavis also launched several political attacks against the Congress party. He accused the opposition of attempting to create misleading narratives regarding the Ram Mandir and suggested they would next target the 2027 Trimbakeshwar Mahasinghastha Kumbh Mela. Additionally, he questioned the Congress's stance on women's empowerment, citing the Women’s Reservation Bill and the lack of women in certain state cabinets as points of contention.

Separately, the Congress party is expanding its youth outreach through the ‘Chhatron ki Goonj’ campaign. Following a recent event in Pune focused on young women and gender justice, the initiative is set to move to Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on September 12, targeting issues such as examination integrity and employment.
