Devendra Nath Mahto hospitalised following Jharkhand recruitment protests

Student leader Devendra Nath Mahto has been hospitalised following a prolonged hunger strike in Jharkhand. Mahto’s health reportedly deteriorated due to severe weakness, dehydration, low blood sugar, and low blood pressure during his protest at Ranchi’s Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium.

The agitation is centered on allegations of irregularities in several recruitment examinations, specifically involving the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). Protesters are demanding the cancellation of the affected examinations, a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe, and increased transparency and reform within the recruitment process.

Reports indicate that Mahto may have also sustained injuries during a lathicharge by police while participating in the protests. While the local government has engaged in talks with protesting aspirants, tensions remain high as supporters continue to rally for the movement's objectives.
