A car was intentionally set on fire in the early hours of Saturday, September 5, at the Melksterweide parking lot in Deventer, located between De Worp and the IJssel.

Passersby discovered the fire around 03:15. Upon arrival, firefighters found the front right section of the vehicle and part of the interior ablaze. The fire was quickly brought under control, preventing the vehicle from being completely destroyed.

Investigators found lighting matches placed on all four tires. Some matches had been lit and extinguished, while others remained unlit, suggesting the arson attempt may have been interrupted. Police have collected the unburnt matches for DNA analysis. Authorities are investigating the incident and looking for potential links to previous vehicle arsons in the Deventer area.
