Deventer: Man sentenced for weapon possession and threats

A 67-year-old man from Wilp has been sentenced by a court in Zwolle for weapon possession and making threats in Deventer. The individual was found in possession of a revolver, a folding knife, an axe, and a baseball bat. The defendant claimed he carried the weapons because he felt threatened, but the court noted he had previously made threatening remarks toward an individual named Appie, stating he would 'arrange something with Turkish friends'.

In a separate incident in Deventer, a 45-year-old man was detained by police after a black smartphone was mistaken for a firearm. The man, who was riding a fatbike, was taken to the ground and handcuffed after refusing to comply with police instructions to drop the object. He was subsequently released and his property was returned.
