Deventer unveils new mural and sustainable school facilities

Deventer has seen two significant local developments involving community infrastructure and art. Artist Marloes de Kiewit has completed a new mural titled ‘Samenwerken’ (Working Together) at the corner of Golstraat and Brink. The artwork, which features three birds building a nest, symbolizes the collaboration between local entrepreneurs, property owners, and the municipality. The mural was commissioned as a farewell gift for Peter Brouwer, who served as the city's inner-city manager from 2019 to 2025.

Additionally, the new De Marke school and its accompanying sports hall, located on Ludgerstraat, have officially opened. The sports hall is noted as being the most sustainable in the Netherlands. The school facility is designed to accommodate approximately 1,000 students from various local educational backgrounds. The architecture of the school utilizes energy-neutral designs and large windows to create a light, open environment inspired by Deventer’s industrial history.
