Devil in Disguise series explores John Wayne Gacy case

The true crime genre continues to expand on streaming platforms with the release of ‘Devil in Disguise’, a series centered on the notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy. Unlike other sensationalized portrayals, this production, created by Patrick Macmanus, focuses on centering the victims within the narrative.

The story follows the investigation led by Des Plaines police officer Rafael Tovar following the disappearance of Robert Piest in December 1978. The series depicts Gacy as a charismatic community leader and volunteer who used a clown persona to mask his crimes. The investigation eventually uncovered the remains of numerous young men hidden within the crawl space of his home.
