Devis Dori appeals to Constitutional Court over Delmastro case access

Devis Dori, President of the Authorization Committee of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, has filed an appeal with the Constitutional Court to resolve a conflict of attribution between state powers. The dispute stems from the Delmastro case involving former Undersecretary of Justice Andrea Delmastro.

Dori alleges that Chamber President Lorenzo Fontana improperly blocked the Committee from reviewing evidence, specifically chat logs and materials sent by the Rome Prosecutor's Office. Dori contends that Fontana's directive to officials prevented the Committee members from accessing the documentation, which violates constitutional customs regarding the autonomy of authorization committees.

The appeal seeks to restore the correct distribution of constitutional competencies and annul the letters issued by the President of the Chamber. While the majority in the Chamber has criticized the move, Dori maintains the action is necessary to protect the prerogatives of the Committee.
