Devlet Bahçeli announces new residence for Abdullah Öcalan at Imrali

MHP Leader Devlet Bahçeli has announced the construction of a 250-square-meter residence within the Imrali Prison complex for Abdullah Öcalan. Bahçeli clarified that the structure is a residence rather than a villa and is intended to facilitate meetings, the delivery of messages, and potential interviews with journalists.

This development coincides with renewed discussions regarding Öcalan’s calls for an accelerated political process. Öcalan has reportedly emphasized that there is “no time to lose” and has urged for the process to be institutionalized through a framework law within the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. His statements suggest that maintaining uncertainty poses risks and that the democratic process requires urgent, legal foundations.
