Devlet Bahçeli marks Turkic World Day and regional cooperation
Devlet Bahçeli, leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), issued messages to commemorate Turkic World Day on October 3. He highlighted the historical importance of the 2009 Nakhchivan Agreement, signed by Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, as a pivotal moment that established a formal basis for multilateral cooperation among Turkic nations.
Bahçeli noted that this agreement laid the foundation for the Turkic Council, which later evolved into the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) following a summit in Istanbul in 2021. He emphasized that cooperation has expanded beyond political and diplomatic ties to include economy, transportation, energy, education, culture, security, science, and technology.
Additionally, MHP Deputy Chairman İlyas Topsakal participated in a panel titled ‘Turkic World Dialogues: Common Future, Common Vision’ in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. He described the Turkic world as the ‘heart of Eurasia,’ stating that the region provides essential energy, transport, and stability to the international community.
