Devon bus and lorry crashes injure child and cause road closures

A double‑deck bus collided with a house on Torquay Road in Shaldon, Devon, seriously injuring a five‑year‑old boy who was taken to Bristol Children’s Hospital. Police arrested a man in his 60s on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. Fourteen other passengers were examined but did not require hospital treatment. The crash shut Torquay Road for about seven hours while forensic work was carried out.

A separate incident on the A30 near Okehampton involved a lorry and a car towing a caravan. The collision ripped the caravan apart but caused no injuries. One lane was closed for roughly four hours, leading to delays of up to 30 minutes and five miles of congestion.

Both accidents prompted responses from Devon and Cornwall Police and temporary road closures affecting local traffic.
