Devon expands EV charging network with new on‑street trial and 1,300 funded stations
Devon County Council and Torbay Council have teamed with EV charge‑point operator Believ to install more than 1,300 fully funded charging points across the region. The rollout, developed under the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) scheme and financed by Believ, targets residents without private parking and will include standard long‑stay chargers, contactless payment and PAS1899:2022 compliance where possible. Virgin Media O2, Believ’s sister company, will support delivery at scale.
In parallel, on‑street charger operator char. gy is launching a trial of 30 new on‑street EV charge points in Devon. Funded through the LEVI fund, the trial will begin in early to mid‑August, using 100 % renewable electricity and driver‑friendly pricing. The pilot aims to assess how on‑street charging can be scaled to address regional disparities in charger provision and to inform a broader rollout across the county.
