Devon launches government‑funded on‑street EV charger trial
Devon County Council will begin a pilot of 30 on‑street electric‑vehicle charge points in early to mid‑August, funded by the UK Government's Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Fund. The chargers will be installed by on‑street charging operator char. gy, which currently runs more than 5,000 public points across the UK.
All devices will draw 100 % renewable electricity and be priced to make neighbourhood charging affordable for residents without private parking. The trial aims to overcome a key barrier to EV adoption in the county and will provide data to guide a wider rollout of on‑street charging across Devon, supporting the council’s goal to cut transport emissions.
