Devon Open Studios to feature over 350 artists
Devon Open Studios will feature over 350 artists from September 12 to 20, offering free exhibitions, workshops, and behind-the-scenes access to various creative processes. The event showcases a diverse range of disciplines, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewellery, and glasswork.
In Totnes, printmaker Sarah Burt is among five emerging artists receiving bursary awards. Additionally, a group of experienced potters, including Georgi Gilpin, Caroline Wakelin, Amanda Peters, and Derryck Strachan, will exhibit functional ceramics and sculpture.
In Brownston, Rachel O’Connell will demonstrate marbling, an ancient surface pattern technique listed on the Red List of Endangered Heritage Crafts. O’Connell is one of fewer than 20 professional marbling artists in the United Kingdom. Other participants include Rose Elliot, a designer specializing in fabric painting in Galmpton.
