Devon Police hunt dog responsible for livestock attacks

Police in Mid Devon are searching for a Blue Merle Collie cross-type dog believed to be responsible for a series of livestock attacks. The dog is described as having a brown muzzle, blown legs, blue and brown coloring across its head, and black markings on its back.

More than 35 sheep have been killed and dozens more injured in attacks across Cheriton Fitzpaine, Crediton, and Stockleigh English. One set of incidents between September 1 and 3 caused an estimated £15,000 in losses. Recent attacks occurred between September 17 and 19 in the Poughill and Pennymoor areas.

Authorities are attempting to trace the owner, noting they may be unaware the animal is escaping overnight. Police have advised the public to call 999 if the dog is spotted and are encouraging farmers to take extra precautions to secure gateways and fields.
