Devon residents invited to shape future community health services

The ‘Let’s talk Neighbourhood health’ engagement programme has launched in Devon, inviting residents to help shape the future of local health and social care delivery. The initiative aims to create a more joined-up system by integrating GPs, community and mental health services, social care, and voluntary organisations to provide support closer to home.

By focusing on neighbourhood health, the programme seeks to help residents stay well longer, access care earlier, and reduce the necessity for hospital treatments, though hospitals will remain essential for urgent and specialist care. The model aligns with the national vision established in the 10-year Health Plan for England.

Residents can participate through surveys, local feedback groups, the new Devon People Panel, or by attending community events. A small grants scheme is also available to assist community groups in reaching underrepresented voices. The survey remains open until October 2, and those unable to use online tools can provide feedback via telephone through Healthwatch.
